Bloggers go insane looking for ways to get some backlinks from .edu sites. Most people don’t even have a clue to why .edu backlinks are important to a linkbuilding champaign.

Head over to the link sale section at Digitalpoint forums, and look for some .edu backlinks that may be for sale.
You could also hire some university interns to help with your link building campaign. (ask them to link to you from the school site)
Post a comment on a .edu blog using a link to an article on your site not the main domain. You will hopefully get a deep link on the blog if the admin visits the site and likes the article.Make sure that the article you link to is revelant info to the topic you commented on.
Ask fellow Twitterlers to help you find some .edu backlinks.

The method below will allow you to post a comment on .edu sites related to you’r keywords.
Step one is to copy and paste the code below
Step two is to change “Your-Key-Word” to what ever key word you are optimized for.
site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in” “Your-Key-Word”

I believe the best way to get page rank is to have a great product. I know that is easier said then done but the better your product is, the more buzz your site will get, the more backlinks , and so on. SEO is important but make sure your product is unique in the
marketplace. Rome wasn’t built in a day… give it time.

Yes a great product is important….But the only way to get noticed would be to get yourself out their so people can find you.

Hi Shaun, why do we need to suffer so much with backlinks, page rank and SEO. Yes I know that is part of our job to appear in Google, but why do we go to these extreme. This is a great tip Shaun but I would really like once not to worry about these things.

Thanks Shaun, glad you liked the site. One thing though, do you that your WOP is a Private WOP? You need to give people the password for them to vote, if not no one will be allowed to vote. If you want, you can change this on “My WOPS” slect the poll and then click Change WOP. Unselect the private wops option and you’re done.

I think this is a great technique. I wasn’t sure if you could do a negative search. That feature can been very powerful when you’re looking for something so specific. Nice one!

I once came across software that was supposed to auto-find .edu sites that allowed commenting then auto-post comments to them but then I thought Google might detect this and come down pretty hard.
Perhaps, I may look back into it though because it would make these awesome tips you give here a bit easier to do…thanx for the post
